The Internet Society Welcomes Comcast, Inc. as Platinum Sponsor
RESTON, VIRGINIA and GENEVA, SWITZERLAND, 20 February 2008 - The Internet
Society (ISOC) welcomes Comcast as its newest Platinum Contributor.
The Internet Society recognizes Comcast for its commitment to ISOC and the
Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), and for its dedication to the
development of the Internet as a global, openly accessible resource.
Platinum is the highest contribution level in the Internet Society
membership structure. Platinum contributions support the Internet Society
and its focused activities in four key areas related to the continued
development of the Internet: Standards, Education and Training, Public
Policy and Member Services.
Platinum contributors have the opportunity to participate in the development
of ISOC programs and services by directing a portion of their dues to
support specific core activities.
Organizational members play an important role in the Internet Society's
Advisory Council, which fosters cooperation on matters affecting the general
welfare and effectiveness of the global Internet and its users.
Organizational members include representatives from academic and research
communities, service and equipment suppliers, content providers, government,
international organizations, and public interest groups.
ISOC President and CEO Lynn St. Amour welcomes Comcast as a new Platinum
Contributor of the Internet Society. "We appreciate and value Comcast's
decision to support the Internet Society's work with the Internet
Engineering Task Force," says St. Amour. "Comcast brings valuable experience
to the table and we look forward to their increased participation in ISOC's
activities."
In addition to becoming a Platinum Contributor of the Internet Society,
Comcast is also the local host of the 71st meeting of the Internet
Engineering Task Force (IETF), which will be held March 9 - 14, 2008 in
Philadelphia. For more information: http://www.ietf.org
"Comcast is delighted to host the 71st meeting of the IETF in Philadelphia,
