The following application for a Chapter in Togo has been received.
It is being sent to this list for peer comment and review.

Please note that the Chapter is not yet formed and has not officially been
recognised by ISOC.

If there are people on this list that know the individuals proposing to
establish the chapter, feedback is especially welcome.

The period allowed for comments is 2 weeks and the deadline is March 1,
2008.

C. Purpose and Scope of Chapter

The internet activity in Togo is reduced to cybercafes and providing
connectivity.

Due to the lack of Trained people while Internet connectivity; Training
education and policies related issues are huge in TOGO an increasing need
for a forefront, supportive body emerged.

ISOC TOGO is to serve the togolese community and provide leadership in
addressing key issues about the roles and uses of Internet.

The Internet Society of TOGO (ISOC TOGO) is dedicated to identifying and
surfacing the potential effective and efficient applications of the Internet
throughout the togolese community. It is to provide support and information
on all Internet related-issues in TOGO to enable individuals, businesses,
professionals, and organizations achieve their goals more effectively.

To be more specifig ISOC TOGO's GOALS include the following:

- Growth and evolution of TOGO’s Internet architecture;

- Provide education and research related to the Internet and
internetworking;

- Harmonization of actions and activities at international levels to
facilitate the development and availability of the Internet in TOGO;

- Liaison with other organizations, governments, private sector and the
general public for coordination, collaboration, and education

- Increase awareness and hold technical, socio-developmental seminars and
conferences on the applications and areas of use of the Internet to serve
the development of the togolese society
