Dear Chapter delegates,

Please find bellow a request for comments regarding "Guidelines for
Implementing the Common Alerting Protocol" (CAP).

The Common Alerting Protocol is an international standard for all-hazard
(severe weather, fires, earthquakes, tsunamis, etc) alert messages.

See ISOC's page on Public Warning for more information:

Subject: Guidelines for implementing the Common Alerting Protocol

I would appreciate any comments you may have on the draft entitled:
"Guidelines for the Content Standard of Alerts and Notifications
in Disasters and Emergencies".

This document is being prepared as part of the work of the ITU-D
(International Telecommunication Union - Development). It follows
specifically on a 2006 ITU Resolution: "to promote implementation
by appropriate alerting authorities of the international content
standard for all-media public warning".

The document is online at http://www.search.gov/cap-guidelines.doc
Any comments may be sent to my e-mail at <echristian at usgs.gov>

Please forward this request for comments to persons or discussion
lists that may have an interest in all-hazards, all-media public
warning.

Thanks!

Eliot Christian
