[Apologies if this double-posts.]

Sir,

OOXML has indeed been submitted to the ISO, however in its current condition and due to the likelihood that its specifications will change as Microsoft issues patches and new versions of Office, it is not likely to enjoy widespread adoption. I don't think it "is being standardized" so much as it is "hoping to become a standard".

Microsoft hasn't had much success with submitting specs for standardization, over the years. This seems very much the same as their previous efforts.

Regardless of its adoption, it is restricted for use by those who have purchased Microsoft Office 2007, and relies on Microsoft-centric code. In light of that, its acceptance as a global standard is even less likely.

My 2 cents.
