Subject: [Chapter-delegates] Chapter News Site
Hello all,
We have the OK from HQ to setup a Chapter News Site that will eventually be
linked to www.isoc.org (thanks to Terry Monroe and Peter Godwin for their
support).
I've volunteered to help get the site up and running. We'll be using
TikiWiki, inter alia because it has built-in support for multilinguism. If
others are willing to help in setting up and managing the site, please let
me know.
I am including the first draft of an intro to the site and posting rules.
What do you think ?

WELCOME TO THE ISOC CHAPTERS WIKI
Welcome to the pilot ISOC Chapters News Site.
The site's objective is to build a showcase of all ISOC Chapter intiatives
by creating a unified and permanent directory of all our local actions. This
will be useful for chapters, as each one will be able to see what the others
are doing, and it will also be a great tool to show the world the impact
that ISOC chapters are having throughout the world.
While we get the site up and running it will remain private to chapters.
After the initial rollout period, we will take the site public and
www.isoc.org will link to it.
The idea of creating something like this ISOC Chapters News Site has been
bounced around for a while in the chapter community. Now that we have the
tool, it is up to us to make it work. For this, each active chapter must use
the site to post their activities. With time, the site will also become a
barometer of chapter activity.
What better way to let the world know what local chapters are doing to make
"The Internet for all"?
POSTING RULES
1. Posts submitted to this site must be news about chapters (announcements
of coming events, completed or current projects). Please keep in mind that
although the site is presently private to chapters, the aim is to rapidly
hook it up to ISOC's public site so it can be viewed by all, so posts should
be written with a very broad readership in mind.
2. Multilingual posts are encouraged. You are encouraged to post in your
local language, keeping in mind that if you wish to broaden your readership,
an English version of posts should also be produced.
3. Posts should contain a description of events and projects organized
locally, as weel as the impacts/results of these activities. You are thus
encouraged to return to posts consisting of announcements for future events
to complete the impacts/results section of your post.
[Additional instructions relating to TikiWiki will have to be included
before we go online.]
