Carlos,

I think this is pretty well documented. As an example, see:
http://www.pir.org/ . There is a link on the front page to the .org
advisory council nomination process . It states, among others that "We
are seeking individuals with significant Internet leadership experience
within the nonprofit, nongovernmental organization (NGO) and domain name
arenas *who represent the broad and geographically diverse spectrum* of
the global noncommercial community." (emphasis added). In this very
case, nominations must be submitted by Friday, April 14, 2006. There is
still time to involve valuable people from your region.

The PIR board is another matter but the process is similar and calls
for nominations were issued in the past. Speaking for myself only, I
think the PIR board needs real business men and women, familiar with the
registry/registrar model and able to manage a business that has the
responsibility of 4 million domain names. I am sure there are such
valuable individuals elsewhere than in North America or Europe. Their
nomination would be considered on an equal footing. This is where
chapters can help ISOC and PIR by suggesting names. So, don't miss the
next call for nomination.

Best regards,

Patrick Vande Walle
