Dear Chapter Delegates:

I would like to comment briefly on Franck’s earlier mail on this subject.

First, the candidates for election to the board have been announced and so
far there is a strong slate of candidates. I personally, and ISOC
generally, are quite grateful to those such as Franck who are willing to
stand for election to an important office in service of ISOC’s mission and
goals. I say ‘so far’ inasmuch as there is an ongoing petition period in
which additional candidates might emerge. The staff are not involved in
the NomCom deliberations so I cannot say if that will, or will not, be so
but it could happen.

And so it is with great respect for the candidates that I nonetheless wish
to remind us all that this particular list is for chapter delegate
business and that really does not include campaigning – indeed, not all
candidates on the ballot for chapter delegate voting will be on this list.

The Election Committee will prepare a candidate forum and activate it as
the final list of candidates becomes known. That will be the best place
for such comments. Again, I wish to stress this is meant only as a gentle
reminder. If I was in Franck’s position I might have done the same as it
seems a natural forum in which to do so. But to be fair to all candidates
I ask that this list be limited to official chapter business.

And again, my best wishes to Franck, to Richard and potential other
candidates for their willingness to take on this role and help ISOC in its
work.
