[Chapter-delegates] Review of chapter application for the Tunisia Internet Society Chapter

Greetings,

ISOC is submitting Chapter applications to this mailing list to give
you an opportunity to comment on them.  The VP of Chapters is
most interested to hear if there exist reasons why a Chapter
application should not be accepted but you're welcome to offer
statements of support, too.  Later, we will send a package of
the proposed Bylaws and officers to this list, again for you to comment.

Criteria to date for evaluating Chapter applications and Bylaws has been
pretty straightforward: unless there's a good reason not to accept a
proposed Chapter it is approved.  As part of involving you in the process of
reviewing these materials ISOC is open to suggestions on additional criteria
you believe are relevant. Since you are already successful operating
Chapters, you are best positioned to comment on what is likely to be
successful.

The application is copied below for your consideration. If you have any
comments, questions or concerns, please respond in two weeks, 10 October
to <chapters at isoc.org>

CHAPTER APPLICATION


A. Proposed name of the Chapter : Tunisia Internet Society Chapter


B. Community of Interest the Chapter will to serve : This chapter will 
serve the Tunisian Internet users and providers, population that is growing 
day after day. We spoke actually in Tunisia about 771.000 internet user, 
it’s about 8%.


C. Purpose and Scope of Chapter : Being a part of a big association like 
yours may help very well our goal bridging the digital divide and allowing 
the advent of an Internet Society that is balanced and accessible to all. 
As Tunisia organize in November 2005 The World Summit on the Information 
Society it will be good that ISOC will be represented in this international 
conference.

E. List of Supporters:  Actually I don’t have any organization that will 
support us, but it will be very easy to find many public and private 
partners to support our mission.

F. List of Requirements : the only one requirement is to submit a demand to 
Interior Ministry to create an association. And normally there is no 
problem for all type of association working in the development and TIC. I 
have already the necessary papers to fill in.


G. Additional Information : The ATI ( the national internet provider 
)  provide freely any association a .org.tn domain name and the necessary 
space to have a web site. So I can create a web site for the Tunisian 
Internet Society Chapter
