Regarding use of "The Internet Society" in the title of a Wessex
Institute conference (previous emails below).
I just phoned the telephone number 44 (0) 238 029 3223 given on
the conference page:
www.wessex.ac.uk/conferences/2006/itsociety06/index.html and
asked for "The Internet Society". I was transferred to Charlotte
Bartlett (Conference Secretariat, The Internet Society 2006).
Note that the title of the web page at:
www.wessex.ac.uk/conferences/2006/itsociety06/index.html
is "THE INTERNET SOCIETY 2006".
I was friendly, urged cooperation to solve the name rights
problem that cannot be permitted to continue, gave my phone
number and email address. I identified myself as a member and an
officer of the Washington DC USA chapter of the Internet
Society, made it clear I was not speaking for the Internet
Society.
Charlotte was able to communicate with Prof. Brebbia (appears to
be the managing director of the sponsoring Wessex Institute),
who asked that the Internet Soceity contact him in hopes that
some arrangement could be worked out constructively.
Also note "The Internet Society" forum at:
http://forums.wessex.ac.uk/pages/forums.asp
As of this time, "The Internet Society" is the only forum
listed on the Wessex web site, and it has 0 postings.
??? Interesting!
Dr. Carlos A. Brebbia's office can be contacted at
