Subject: [Chapter-delegates] Cross of Merit for members of ISOC Poland
Dear all,
let me to shamelessly announce great news about ISOC Poland and
especially about four our members (including myself...):
http://www.mswia.gov.pl/index.php?dzial=2&id=3594
Sorry, no official english version.
18 individuals were awarded with Cross of Merit for their contribution
to national information infrastructure during the years 2002-2005.
It is worth mention that candidates for awards were proposed by former
socialdemocratic govermnent but actual ceremony was lead by Deputy Prime
Minister of new conservative one.
Among awarded ISOC Poland is represented by:
- KALETA Zdzisław
- WAGLOWSKI Piotr
for contribution to new state law regarding computerisation of public
administration (it means for negotiating an acceptable compromise to
sefeguard technical neutrality and open standards based solutions)
- MACEK Jan
for contribution to software patents debate
- MAJEWSKI Władysław
for both of above.
Others were chosen from candidates proposed by PTI (Polish Professional
Society of Information Technology) and PIIT (Polish Chamber of
Information Technology and Telecommunication).
Professors Wladyslaw Turski and Andrzej Blikle are leaders of Polish
Information Technology scholars since sixties.
(about Cross itself and Polish civil state awards at wikipedia:

from ceremony: http://prawo.vagla.pl/node/5774 ).
