Dear Chapter Delegates,

A chapters/members meeting was held during the AfNOG conference in
Maputo, Mozambique on 28 April 2005. The meeting was kindly facilitated
by Mirjam Kuehne, ISOC Senior Program Manager. A special thanks to
Mirjam for doing this.

The meeting was organised as part of the AfNOG conference agenda and was
open to everybody. It was well attended and members of the following
chapters were present:

Benin, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Togo

Participants from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and other
countries in the region were also present.

The meeting started with a short presentation:

After that number of chapter representatives reported from their
activities and events. This stimulated a good discussion and information
exchange among the chapters.

After the meeting a number of individuals showed interest to open
chapters in their countries: Kenya, Gabon, Mozambique.

At the opening ceremony of the AfNOG conference, Venancio Simao
Massingue, the new Minister of Science and Technology, (formerly the
president of the Maputo University and a long member of the technical
Internet community) explicitly thanked ISOC for all it's support over
the years.

Best Regards,

Nelson Sanchez
