All,

The meeting and meeting logistics went very well.

Several speakers were added at the beginning of the program,
and. time was so short we took telephone audio bridge calls from
only two people who were waiting on the line:

1) Lynn St. Amour calling in at 3:30 a.m.
from Cairo and making it clear that she was
there working on WSIS and Arab conference
business (I think her presence there made a
more favorable and impressive statement for
ISOC than if she had attended personally)
   followed by

2) Ramon Morales from Puerto Rice. Ramon's
connection was crystal clear, and he made
a beautiful statement about ISOC and about
   Vint and Bob.

I also played the 2-minute video clip sent to me by Patrick
Vande Walle as representative of the three ISOC Board members
elected by the Chapters.

We also read a prepared statement that Lynn had sent in.

At times during the above, I flashed on the huge video screen
samples of the congratulation emails sent in by chapters. I
used: Aragon-Spain, Asturia, Australia, Columbia, Madrid-Spain,
Mail, Nigeria, Palestine, Poland, and US-Chicago as samples.

The Booz Allen Hamilton World Headquarters Conference Center is
a magnificent facility, and we comfortably filled the 180-person
room. (MCI, Booz Allen only invited their senior staffs,
otherwise people those 2 companies would have overwhelmed the
room.) An important reason for using Booz Allen is their
excellent video facilities, we video recorded, and I hope we
will have a good quality video of the evening in a few days that
we can stream for all chapters.

Something I thought important, I read a 2-minute remembrance of
Nigeria's Prof. Nwodo, mentioning the Postel IT center success
there.

Marty Burack, President DCISOC acted as MC for the evening.

Highlight was a four person informal chat group, sitting in
large comfortable easy chairs and chatting about the past, how
it all happened, and the future: Vint Cerf, Bob Kahn, Steve
Crocker, and a local high school computer science student. And
she is a bright, articulate young girl. You will want to
see/hear it all.

I think Vint and Bob had a good time.

It was a magic evening. Certainly none of the invited speakers
or the attendees wanted to leave at the end of the evening.

We had other important speakers, and I will send more
on them and what they said. Important.

In the next day, we will send several brief emails to the
chapter-delegates and ISOC general list reporting on the
meeting, listing the chapters that sent in emails, etc.

VP, Washington DC USA Chapter of ISOC
