Subject: RE: Advanced Congratulations to Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn for June's
ACM Turing Award
Dear Mike,
Many thanks for your kind words - I still carry that lovely pen you gave me
with its "IP ON EVERYTHING" inscription from the June
2000 dinner.
You may also like to know that on the 5th anniversary of the June 6 dinner,
I will be presenting to former vice president Gore a
lifetime Webby Award for his support for the evolution and especially
commercialization of the Internet. This event takes place in
New York City during the Webby Awards ceremony.
Bob and I will be at the ISOC DC chapter event tonight to celebrate the
Turing award and again on June 9 at the Computer History
Museum in Mountain View, and in San Francisco on June 11 where the ACM will
hold its annual awards dinner/gala.
What is most satisfying about the Turing Award is that it is the first time
this award has recognized contributions to computer
networking. Bob and I hope that this will open the award to recognize many
others who have contributed so much to the development
and continued evolution and use of the Internet.
Please give our best wishes to our colleagues at ISOC-LA,
Sincerely,
Vint Cerf
