Dear Irwan:
Obviously you care deeply and provide a lot of thoughtful ideas. As for the
names of member levels, your ideas seem quite good - we will also see what
others might suggest but I think these you mention make great sense.
As for the methods by which we should accept payment I will take these you
suggest and work with Jim and our finance office on it. We will look for
ways that people can use as it is clear that credit card payments are not
adequate to the task by themselves.
You also mention structural changes that have sound reasoning behind them. I
agree with you that the support for the IETF is an important element of what
ISOC does but it is not the only one. Our educational efforts around the
world have had a tremendous impact and they continue to do so. And we are
expanding policy related efforts - especially now with the WSIS program
underway. Not only are these important works but they are also ones where
chapters and individuals can have a large impact by organizing WSIS events
in their region, by contacting local press, by spreading the ISOC
interventions at WSIS and WGIG and more.
On the structural side however, a decision has been taken and it needs time
to either establish itself as prudent or not.

Subject: [chapter-delegates] Any comments?
Dear David, James,
Any comments on the payment systems I suggested? If ISOC can use e-gold, for
example, some members from Indonesia will be able to pay the new membership
fee.
Best Regards,
Irwan Effendi
