Subject: [chapter-delegates] Suggestions about new membership system
Dear ISOC members,
please find attached a draft of presentation with my suggestions about
future ISOC membership, representation and fees. Presentation is in
Open Office .sxi and MS Powerpoint *.ppt formats. I did not care about
pretty look, it contains raw bullets points for now.
I would like to present it myself in Minneapolis if:
- BoT will find 30 minutes for my talk in its agenda
- ISOC or group of charters/member would support me with 700 euro
(cheapest flight I found is about 600 euro from Brussels and I will need
3 or 4 nights in cheapest motel. Train to and from Brussels is 200 euro,
so estimated total cost is about 1300 euro; I can cover myself at most
500 euro)
Summary
*Please*:
1. restart the process and allow time for proper debate
2. keep one class one voting membership and allow for different levels
and types of contribution with different types of benefits
3. follow the principle of subsidiarity and do not centralise tasks
which can be better i cheaper done locally
4. maintain rule of one contact point for members; if possible it should
be one local level
5. Leave all basic fees collected from individual members to chapters
6. Let chapters to set their own fees and membership requirements
7. Require organisational members to participate in at least one chapter
8. Transfer voting privilidges of organisational members to individual
membership by giving org members privilidge to sponsor individual
membership for several individual members (employees or trusted coworkers).
9. Dedicate more time and attention to communication with members
10. Provide clear rules and more active leadership
