Dear Dr. Charmonman,

The Executive Council of the Internet Society of Puerto Rico met on Monday
and took a position to proceed to do what is within our means to support
your recovery efforts in Thailand. We have picked the school project because
we believe that after the big relief efforts are over the Thai people will
be most benefited by the types of support you indicated in your letter.

At the present time, Puerto Rico's foremost music celebrity, Ricky Martin,
is visiting your country and his foundation is working to generate funding
for specific relief efforts through his generosity and commitment. His
activities have been widely covered in the local and world media. His
presence in your country is a source of great pride for he is showing a
trait that is characteristic of the Puerto Rican people. We are known for
"giving the shirt off of our backs", for our deep sense that to give to
others in times of great difficulty is when we rise above the circumstances
ourselves. We too recall all of the aid and support we received when we have
faced the destructive forces of hurricanes Hugo and George in 1989 and in
1998.

We are in contact with a reporter who is part of the media group covering
his trip to the areas affected in Thailand and in the region. We will do all
that is possible to reach this reporter so that perhaps you may be able to
contact Mr. Martin and request support for the school projects with which
you are working. We have already communicated the presence of our EC members
in your country to the reporter, who is the wife of an ISOCPR founding
member to see if there is an opportunity to bring attention to these
efforts and direct gift giving and technology support for a school in your
country as a direct result of the action taken by the Internet Society of
Puerto Rico and those individuals and chapters that choose to join it in
this endeavor.

With deepest respect,
Ramon Morales
ISOCPR

Dear Ramon Morales,

Just to keep you informed, there have been several development in
Thailand since my email of January 5. Examples are given below:

1. HM the King of Thailand has donated 750,000 US$ to expand a school to
take 300 kids or so who have lost their parents.
2. Thai International Airlines and several international companies have
each donated 750,000 US$ to HM project.
3. The Thai government has authorized 250,000 US$ to establish a new
school with computers and Internet connection. This school will serve
as a model for more to come.
4. The 300 schools (with about 300,000 students) in the same system with
Assumption University have agreed to provide 350 full scholarships to
kids in the 6 provinces affected by Tsunami.
Tomorrow, Assumption University will send 11 computer staff members
(most are members of ISOC Thailand) to the 6 provinces
to accept applications and establish computer database
to be used for selecting the 350 who will be given scholarship. (By the
way, at any time, about half of the Ministers in the Cabinet graduated
from our school systems. For example, the Prime Minister graduated from
De Montfort School, three Deputy Prime Ministers and several Ministers
graduated from Assumption Schools in various provinces, the Minister of
Health graduated from St.Joseph School, other Ministers graduated from
   St.Louis School, St.Gabriel School, St.Dominic School, etc.)

Best regards,
Srisakdi
