Dear friends
I have followed with a lot of interest the messages that have been sent by
you
concerning the future operations and perspectives of the possibilities
offered by the new potentiality' of ISOC.
I will like to make some comments.
Particularly I agree for a need of greater involvement of the chapters to
participate on the important decisions of ISOC.
Personally even if I not disdaining discussion I strongly believe that the
internet diffusion is made from the work of different factors that will
converge into actions that will concretize the target.
To avoid that these discussions will be mere philosophy it will require that
Chapters from different regional area will work together to achieve a
tangible result.
For instance is obvious that in Africa and in other part of the world there
is lack of internet infrastructures. To develop internet policies and
technicalities it requires having physically that structures that will make
Internet a reality. ( For instance IT centers in educational institutions).
ISOC and Chapters must work in this direction to realize it.
After all this is part of ISOC mission to diffuse Internet.
"First it needs to give the bread to a person and then teach him the
benefits of it......"
I finally believe that ISOC as NGO it also has to make a breakthrough
participating more actively on the world events.
As other organizations are these days, helping the Asian populations struck
by the terrible seaquake, ISOC could have played a role in its own field.
Despite the discussions on the list neither reference nor contribution has
been raised on this immense tragedy.
The mission of ISOC it is also this one!
Happy new year to everybody
