Subject: Reminder - Announcing the INET MEA 2005 regional conference
Reminder. As recently announced in the March Newsletter ISOC will be
holding the first ever regional INET conference in Cairo Egypt on May
8th, 2005. We invite all our Chapters and members to attend. Please
help us promote this event and pass this information on to your chapter
members and local community.
We are looking into organizing a chapters/members meeting during the
event. More information will be coming shortly.
Announcement:
Since 1991, the Internet Society's INET events have given members of the
global Internet community, technology experts, policy makers and
business leaders a unique opportunity to meet to debate and discuss the
technologies and policies that are defining the future of the Internet.
As part of ISOC's strategy of making key Internet forums more accessible
to people everywhere, we are pleased to announce the first ever regional
INET conference to be held in Cairo, Egypt on May 8th. The INET MEA
2005 regional conference will provide a unique opportunity for attendees
to gain insights into global and local Internet issues in a regional
context.
The INET MEA 2005 regional conference will be organised in conjunction
with the Second Pan-Arab Regional Conference for the World Summit on the
Information Society in Cairo, Egypt on May 8th - 10th. It will focus on
the technical coordination aspects of the Internet.
In the session entitled 'The Internet: How it works, Why it works, Who
makes it work?' representatives of the groups and organisations that
enable and support the operation of the Internet infrastructure will
give first-hand information about just how the Internet coordination
processes have evolved and how they work today. Speakers also include
respected and experienced specialists from the MEA region who will
explain why the stability of the Internet is so important, and what can
be done to maintain it. The session (which will be held on May 8th)
complements the session 'Internet Governance: Public Policy and
Technical Coordination' to be held on May 9th during the Pan-Arab
Regional WSIS conference. All those involved with any aspect of
Internet operations or policymaking will find this session invaluable
and are encouraged to attend.
