J. Krezner of SDC was the author of RFC 17, dated 27 August 1969. I imagine that whatever SDC group J. Krezner was in had the ARPA contract that led to SDC getting an IMP. The SDC IMP was #8, probably installed around April or May of 1970. The first Host connected to it was an IBM 360/67. The technical liaison for that Host in late 1971 was Bob Long. All of the above comes from the RFC archives.

Cheers,

Alex McKenzie

On Tue, Mar 12, 2019 at 2:00 AM Karl Auerbach <karl@cavebear.com> wrote:

Some very early maps of the ARPAnet show an IMP at SDC (System
However, during my time there (roughly 1971 through 1980) I never saw
hide nor hair of one (and given that our group under Clark Weissman and
have been the group that would most likely have known about it.)
Does anyone know more about the SDC IMP? Did it actually exist? If so,
any details?
