I truly appreciate their confidence and support. However, I have decided not to stand as a candidate.</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">I have had the opportunity to contribute to the ChAC over the years, including serving as Vice Chair of its Steering Committee in 2018. We have worked together to strengthen the role of Chapters within the Internet Society, and I believe that now is the time to identify and support leadership with a strong vision for the future.</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">These elections are particularly important in light of our recent discussions on the Chapter DNA and the proposed revision of the Chapter Charter Agreement. These processes have highlighted the need for broader, deeper, and more inclusive discussions about matters that directly affect our Chapters.</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">We are not simply discussing administrative procedures or contractual language. We are addressing fundamental questions about Chapter autonomy, diversity, local realities, institutional sustainability, and the relationship between Chapters and the Internet Society.</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">In my view, these discussions reinforce the importance of a genuinely bottom-up governance model, where Chapters are not merely consulted on proposals developed elsewhere, but actively participate in identifying challenges, setting priorities, evaluating alternatives, and shaping the decisions that affect them.</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">This requires a ChAC Steering Committee with strong leadership, independence of judgment, a clear strategic vision, and a genuine commitment to representing the diversity of our global Chapter community.</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">I therefore encourage every Chapter to actively participate in these elections, discuss the candidates within their leadership teams, and carefully consider which representatives demonstrate the vision, commitment, and willingness to foster open dialogue that our community needs.</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">The strength of the ChAC should not be measured simply by its organizational structure or procedures, but by its ability to represent Chapters effectively, encourage meaningful participation, and ensure that their collective voice is heard and taken seriously.</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">Our responsibility does not end with voting. We must remain engaged, contribute our perspectives, and support the elected representatives in building a stronger, more representative, and genuinely bottom-up ChAC.</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">I hope these elections will mark an opportunity to renew our collective commitment to that vision.</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">Best regards,</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">Carlos Vera Quintana</div><div dir="ltr">Internet Society Ecuador Chapter</div></div><div dir="ltr"><br><blockquote type="cite">El oct 9, 2026, a la(s) 15:25, Rama Rejman via Chapter-delegates <chapter-delegates@elists.isoc.org> escribió:<br><br></blockquote></div><blockquote type="cite"><div dir="ltr">
