<p>Scott,</p>
<p>thanks for looking at it and for your comments.<br>

support is adding members via email. The self-registration

terms and privacy policy. This is a legal requirement that

<p>Just to make it clear:</p>
<ol>
<li>We are talking about ISOC Global members that are legally
registered Chapter members according to respective Chapter
bylaws - some of them were Chapter members long before ISOC's
AMSs even existed. So registering them as Chapter members with
AMS does not change their legal state. The only change is: ISOC
takes notice of their Chapter membership. They agreed to this
when they joined both ISOC and the Chapter. No privacy issues at
all. The user-driven action took place before.<br>
</li>
<li>This said: what would be a practical solution? This is the
only suggestion I heard from AMS folks so far: these Chapter
members should go to the AMS page. Meaning<b>:</b></li>
<ol>
<li><b>log in [</b>shit, lost my password ... <i>finally with
some luck</i><b>] -></b></li>
<li><b>community portal -> </b></li>
<li><b>join your local Chapter [</b>did so before: done, logout
... <i>no, please</i><b>] click -> </b></li>
<li><b>wait, wait wait ..., -> </b></li>
<li><b>search for the local Chapter when found -> </b></li>
<li><b>click apply -> </b>[You mean apply again? why that?]</li>
<li><b>click submit to "confirm your interest in becoming a
member of the x Chapter"</b>. [confirm what?] <br>
</li>
</ol>
<li>This process is definitely rather confusing than legally
relevant. (Was there any privacy hint on the way? Something like
"I agree that my personal data ..."). </li>
<li>So: Is this a viable solution? Seriously? Not sure if ISOC
still has still some relics of technical reputation to lose -
but e.g. requesting this from an ISOC member who recently had
her 25th Chapter membership anniversary is definitely pitiful,
insane and IMHO disrespectful. An organization that teaches the
world accessibility, usability ... (you name it) should avoid
such churlishness.<br>
</li>
<li><b>Urgent: Please provide a clean effortless method to
register Chapter members with AMS, that avoids molesting and
confusing them.</b><br>
</li>

<p>I'm fully aware of this and everybody who read the README and
uses it should know it too. I rank the risk of changes medium-high
and but probably manageable. If not - so what? Was worth a try to
start a discussion. But first of all: <b>I'd be happy to dump the
hole stuff to trash if ISOC AMS would finally come-up with an
official API as was a request since former Membernova was
released (2015 I guess)</b>.</p>
<p>Anyhow: thanks for your mail which may help clarification.<br>

<p>Best</p>
