My personal view is that email is still one of the most efficient<br>
and focused ways of communication. I would hate an organisation<br>
like ISOC to have to resort to all sorts of interactive collaborative<br>
tools that would take much more time and attention to deal with.<br>

As Internet professionals, we are able to set up email filters<br>
and automatic sorting of email into folders and mailboxes, and<br>
I for one would not want to have to log into yet another collaborative<br>
tool just to find out what is going on. Yes, those tools have a<br>
place and are very useful in many situations, but I feel this isn't<br>
one of them.<br>
<br>
On the other hand, I agree that all sorts of hand-waving and<br>
congratulations, while a nice gesture, don't really belong in<br>
the mailboxes of all of us. Professionalism also means respecting<br>
the time and attention span of the recipients.<br>
