<div dir="ltr"><div><div>Hello Alan,<br><br></div>Vision is basically the dream that an organisation has for something; usually its a self futuristic dream but considering the role of ISOC, her dream is of the world. I think its okay to have a dream about what the world should look like as it concern the internet and this IMHO does not imply imposing that view on the world, it only calls on those who share similar dreams to work towards achieving them, while those who don't should consider sharing such a dream ;-)<br></div><div><br></div><div>That said, I personally think the current wording is not descriptive and focused enough. How about "Internet available to everyone" <br><br></div>Regards<br><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">On Thu, Nov 9, 2017 at 11:53 AM, Alan Levin <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:alan@isoc.org.za" target="_blank">alan@isoc.org.za</a>></span> wrote:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr">Hi Everyone,<div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote"><span>On Thu, Oct 26, 2017 at 10:18 AM, Gonzalo Camarillo <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:Gonzalo.Camarillo@ericsson.com" target="_blank">Gonzalo.Camarillo@ericsson.co<wbr>m</a>></span> wrote:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex">--- Proposal ---<br>

Our experience is that this is considered by those - who are not openly connected - as something that we wish to force down their throats... who are we to tell people (communities, pristine cultures, religious groups, even the Chinese nation), that the (open) Internet is for them (which is and may be counter to what their leaders say)? <br></div><div><br></div><div>For example there are very religious people (and cults and communities and "indigenous people") who feel that there are better proprietary means to communicate and they already have access to their own world of information and all other information/communications are questionable, potentially harmful and needing vetting. </div><div><br></div><div>I do not have a best counter proposal although I suggest changing "for" to "open to" may be better.. ie the Internet is open to everyone</div><div> </div><div>Hope this helps.</div><span class="m_1453063031474649597HOEnZb"><font color="#888888"><div><br></div><div>Alan<br clear="all"><div><br></div>-- <br><div class="m_1453063031474649597m_7901486600963288835gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">Alan Levin</span><br></div><div style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">------------------------------<wbr>----</span></div><div style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">Chairman ISOC-ZA</span></div><div style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px"><a href="tel:+27%2021%20488%202820" value="+27214882820" target="_blank">+27 21 4882820</a> (ddi)</span><br></div></div></div>
