Dear all,<br>

The idea of new SIG is good and is in the ISOC mission
framework. I support the idea and the <br>

and provide information that may<br>
be used for other purposes or actions. <br>

clear, I have no basis for saying that the name actually
reflects more of a monitoring function, but only that an
action-oriented SIG is what we need in this area. I also
think SIGs are potentially good vehicles for furthering ISOC’s
purposes.</div>

<div class="">I am surprise we don't have something
already in existence relating to information or
Internet Security before? If we already have, then
can we simply modify the name to cover cyber
security risks or something? I don't see why we
need to start another one of this SIG which may
well become a discussion forum. As John mentioned
in his comment, I would rather see something in
ISOC that can turn discussions into actions. As a
infosec professional for almost 20 years, I have
seen enough discussion forums. Many of them were
started with a good course (and many still provide
a good platform for discussion and exchange in
ideas), but we simply have too many of them to
even keep up with.<br class="">
<br class="">

<div class="">But if we don't, ISOC should have this
issue in its core pillars and make something
happen.<br class="">

<div class="">I fully support this initiative with
the following comment. The one question I have
and it is raised by the use of the word
“Observatory/Observatorio”. This word suggests
to me that the SIG will be monitoring and not an
action group. We have more than enough
institutions and organizations monitoring
cybersecurity issues, what a SIG from the
Internet Society needs to be doing is organizing
actions, not just providing information.

I have an issue wit the English word
"<span class="">Observatory" which
has been translated from
"Observatorio". In English, it has
the connotation of observing but
not changing. I believe the aim of
this group is not only to observe,
but to take action.<br class="">
<br class="">
Therefore, I suggest name such as
Cybersecurity SIG.<br class="">

Also, what would be the working
language of the group?<br class="">
