<div>On 1) I think that ISOC needs to find a way to show and publicise that support network better, even as a chapter leader I was unaware of some of those things that ISOC was supporting and its really a ‘feel going factor’ to be able to show that
to our local members but also to promote ISOC as a organisation. ISOC gets flak sometimes for what it spends funds on so when we are spending funds in such impactful areas we really should find ways to show the impact and outcomes of these areas, its a great
list, lets make sure everyone knows that we are doing all these things!</div>

</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Richard, Nadira:</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>I like your approach.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>We are now talking about 2 different things. </div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>The discussion started about a the “ageism” in the IGF Ambassador program. Now it becames how to support Chapters for attending IG fora/meetings. </div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>1) With regard to the first topic. We have a lot of programs for supporting the engagement of the community in IG landscape and they are all very diverse. </div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>- We support the IGF secretariat.</div>
<div>- We support IGFSA and though IGFSA we support National and Regional IGFs without any restriction. </div>
<div>- Our Regional Bureaus support many initiatives run by other organizatios and they are involved in the organization of some others, to strengthen the involvement of the community in IG debate. </div>
<div>one example is the South School on Internet Governance, an initiative led by Olga, with which ISOC contributes. And the funding we provide is used for funding fellows under they own criteria. </div>
<div>This is another way to support the strengthening of community participation in IG</div>
<div>- Same happen with the regional IGFs with which we contribute and we are involved in. In LACIGF for example, part of our contribution, together with others’ ones, are used not only for fellows to the regional meeting but also for the global IGF,
under their own rules. </div>
<div>- And many national IGF receive direct support from ISOC too, </div>
<div>- Beside that we have also several fellows programs: IETF policy fellows, IETF tech fellows, fellow programs around specific meetings like the African Peering and Interconnection Forum, or Eurodig, and of course the Next Generations Leaders
and the IGF Ambassadors. </div>
<div>- We have also capacity building activities, that is another way to support community participation in IG. The NGL, Internet Governance for Policy Makers and we can organize more capacity building activities for more specific audiences (for example
for chapters leaders or in partnership with a specific chapter for their community)</div>
<div>- The regional chapters workshops are also an important initiative to get more people involved in IG and policy discussion. </div>
<div>- Last but not least. We provide support to the chapters through Beyond the Net for organizing meeting with their local community and this is another very very important way to involve new people in IG discussion. </div>
<div>- I’m sure I’m forgetting other things we do……..</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Internet Governance is not only the global IGF. We work in bringing people on board though all this myriad of options. And even speaking at the global IGF. There are many different sources of funding for the participation of the people. </div>
<div>The global IGF is attended by probably 1500 people and I’m sure many of them are funded by different programs oriented to different kind of audiences. </div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>So, to the question about is there is some ageism in ISOC programs, my answer is No. There isn’t. We have a very diverse programas and activities that reach out a very diverse audience. In fact, I would say that ISOC surely is one of the organization
with the most diverse activities around IG directed to the most diverse audience. </div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>As I said in my previous mail, it doesn’t mean we can not review all those activities, some of them, and/or the design of a specific one. In fact we do it. So, all your comments are not only welcomed, but very much appreciated. </div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>2) We regard to the second topic: if what we are talking about is how we support Internet Society Chapters to attend different IG fora/meetings, this is a different discussion.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>I’m sure that many chapters members and chapters leaders are already being benefited by one or many of the initiatives i have listed above, but if this is one area where you think Chapters need more support, so what Richard and Nadira propose
is very good. Let’s include this in the discussions about how to support better ISOC chapters. </div>
<div>Many ideas come to my mind right now about this. We should not focus only in attending meetings but in capacity building in general. We could hold some of our Internet Leadership Program’s activities oriented specifically to chapter members and/or
leaders. I would be more than happy to discuss it with you. </div>
<div><br>
</div>

Yes, Narelle, applicants from all countries are eligible to the IGF Ambassador fellowship. However, it is good to push through to initiate a new fellowship program, open to all, as suggested on this thread. In the new fellowship program it must not only be
directed to attending the IGF, but to all fora/meetings that are part of IG ecosystem and partially sponsored by ISOC.<span> </span><u></u><u></u></p>
