I think that moving into open source tools is a great idea and the project should move forward. However,as you can read in other emails there are already many ideas and comments as to what type of tools to use. The next step should be for you to tell the chapters your recommended tools and let us comment on them as to the coms and pros before deciding on anything. After all we are going to end using these.

By the way, is this project going to take care of fixing (or replacing)the "connect" platform. The current one does not "connect" at all, specially if you are reading it in a mobile phone.

-ed

On Tue, Jun 7, 2016 at 5:44 PM Alexander Blom <alexander.blom@budgetphone.nl> wrote:

Dear all,
In March of this year, we sent all of
you a mail regarding the need for a suite of open source tools and
shared facilities to help every ISOC chapter live up to its full
potential. The mail also invited you to
participate in a survey.

22 chapters responded, which we thought
was pretty good, and you can find the results of the survey on our website. As you will see, some reactions were positive, some
contributed a few interesting ideas, and a few were more skeptic.5 chapters expressed their willingness
to be involved further in the project.

We then discussed the results of the
survey with ISOC.ORG with the result that they agreed to financially
support the following goals for phase 1:

1. Assemble a number of open source tools accomodating:

a conveniently editable,
accessible, responsive website

IM capabilities for online meetings

chapter templates for desktop/mobile browser/tablet at least suitable
for this projects' open source tools, with room for posts,
background articles and chapter information

3. Design acessible and attractive ISOC
chapter templates for news letters

the wishes expressed in the survey, and thus is a very good start of the
project. However, we can only go ahead if we
can demonstrate a clear show of interest from all of you and
therefore the question to you is: do you want this project to go
forward?

If so, please reply to this mail with
