When you add the use of Drones for specific pest eradication etc you can see how the two can compliment each other<br></div><div>As to Joly's comment about Code for All conference. The Jamaican group spoke about an open source app called Harvest API, it's an open source project but no details are on the site. In the Jamaican example the funding is coming from the Canadian government IDRC and the idea is to provide Open Data to the farmers and their markets to encourage the free flow of information so that the farmers don't bring too many products to market. This has been done in many Mobile Applications in Africa. One of the more interesting projects I saw is the Potato Institute of India which shares information about the Potato Blight.
