For highlighting existing BoT representation which
clearly shows which area need to be looked and

from Africa, Central America" I would say " Some from
Middle East" being Zero representation.<br>

<div>Hi Charles<br>

</div>
I'm not trying to pre-empt the
deliberations of the nomcom here, but
it will really depend on who comes
forward. If all of you capable,
experienced people don't offer to
stand, then we would hope that other
capable candidates from other regions
still nominate.<br>

I don't think we can make geographic
origin a *compulsory* criteria, but I
have certainly added to the call for
nominations in the past a line like:<br>
<br>

"Candidates from Asia are strongly
encouraged to apply"<br>
<br>

Obviously in this phase we would word it as
Africa, Latin or Central America.<br>

range of candidates, too.<br>

asking for input into
the selection criteria,
or at least some
guidance for the nomcom

</div>
<div>It is important to
remember, too, that the
job of the Board of
Trustees (BoT) is that
of gvoernance and
overarching strategy,
not day-to-day
management or explicit
direction. It has
significant fiduciary
responsibility and legal
responsibilities for the
appropriate governance
of the organisation.
Thus these skills are
the essential basis for
the skillset required.<br>

<div><br>
</div>
<div>Additional
Information<br>
</div>
You may recall that
earlier last year we
adopted a system of equal
seat allocation to
nominations from the three
communities, so the number
from each source (IETF,
Org and Chapters) is not
matched with the number we
are electing/nominating
this time round. In the
future they will be, but
this year we are still
transitioning.<br>
<br>
[Once elected, trustees
are committed to serve the
Society as a whole and
cannot act merely in the
interests of any one
group, regardless of who
they were
elected/appointed by.]<br>
<br>
Thus, this time around we
will be:<br>
- electing: 1 x Org, 1 x
Chapter nominees<br>
- receiving 2 x IETF
appointees (through their
selection process)<br>
</div>
<div><br>
Stepping down will be:<br>
- 1 x Chapter member<br>
- 2 x Org members<br>
- 1 x IETF nominee<br>
<br>
Of those, the individuals
are:<br>
Rudi Vasnick (eligible for
re-election)<br>
Dave Farber (eligible for
re-election)<br>
Eric Burger (term limited
thus now ineligible for
re-election)<br>
Keith Davidson (eligible
for re-election) Keith has
indicated he will not be
standing.<br>
<div><br>
</div>
The Board of Trustees'
current makeup is:<br>
<br>
By geography<br>
North America - 5<br>
Asia-Pac - 4 (Pacific - 2,
Asia - 2, M-East-0)<br>
Europe - 3<br>

BoT is:<br>

<div>Academics: 4,
Business: 4,
Technologists: 3,
Consumer: 1<br>
</div>

technologists, but I was
thinking day jobs;
nearly all of the group
have either engineering

re-elections,the BoT is
potentially losing:<br>
