I have heard this story about Fadi. Is there any conclusive
evidence, aside from that that Fadi believes "ICANN does not do
users?".
I am asking because if this is the case, I will need to remind him
of the ICANN Bylaws and copy his boss, Steve Crocker. But I'd rather
have conclusive evidence before sending Fadi Chehadé such a
reminder.
> But that doesn't change the fact that ICANN is an industry
body. It does registry, registrar and a little in registrant
work. What ICANN does is structure registries and registrars to
take money from registrants to pay for itself and the supply
chain. Users who are not registrants have no voice because they
do not pay into the ICANN money-go-round.

Please read the ICANN bylaws on:
The view that ICANN is an industry body has been (wrongly) purported
by both Contracted parties and ICANN naysayers. The fact is that
this view is wrong. Repeating this wrong point of view amounts to
attempts at brainwashing end users that they should steer clear of
being involved in ICANN. Quite the contrary - we have a strong
community that will fight these assertions and that is working hard
to reverse this thread of misinformation.
for everyone just as much as it is needed to force a greater voice
for users in the round in data network policy making.
>
picking on registrants as the problem when in fact the problem
lies with the ICANN policy process and representation of registry
and registrar operators.
Christian - irrespective of whether more Internet users should
become domain registrants, I refer you to Article XI of the ICANN
bylaws, Section 2.4.a
The fact that an end user is a domain registrant or not does not
come in the picture.

I also refer you to the Affirmation of Commitments Section 9.1 a-e.
https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/affirmation-of-commitments-2009-09-30-en
Once again -- Internet Users. No mention of Registrants. Please feel
free to pass these references on to anyone telling you otherwise.
