From a woman named Parry Aftab, a great leader and one of the pioneers of children online safety, who is also a dear friend and was very active in ISOC, I learned taht the greatest risk for children is not the evils that can happen online but being left off the Internet. The other (admittedly sometimes awful) evils have to be managed accordingly to this priority. Children have to learn (with assistance) to live online as much as they learn to live in an unsafe world offline. <o:p></o:p></span></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"'>I add to the above that it is useful to calibrate online risk management with offline risk management.
