<div><br></div><div>It was an interesting and informative session. Two things in particular I gleaned from Fred: </div><div><br></div><div>1) although<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); "> he qualified by saying he was constrained by NDA's from going into detail, was that one major US ISP has already achieved 70% IPv6 implementation with its users</span></div>
<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); "><br></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); ">2) </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px; font-family: arial, sans-serif; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); ">asked about address portability another thing he talked about on the panel was Network Prefix Translation (NPTv6), mentioning that its approval by the IETF was not welcomed by everybody. I see more info on </span><a href="http://www.fastlaneus.com/blog/2011/08/28/from-nat66-to-ipv6-to-ipv6-network-prefix-translation-nptv6/" target="_blank" style="font-size: 13px; color: rgb(28, 81, 168); font-family: arial, sans-serif; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); ">http://www.fastlaneus.com/blog/2011/08/28/from-nat66-to-ipv6-to-ipv6-network-prefix-translation-nptv6/</a></div>
<div><br></div><div>Prof. Chiu revealed that a forthcoming academic paper will assert that IPv6, despite its limited deployment, is already practically as fast as IPv4. I was surprised nobody responded by pointing out that, as Carrier Grade NAT (CGN) is implemented IPv4 is going to slow down considerably.</div>
