PoCs:* <BR><BR>The “alpha version” of the new ISOC Chapter portal was
demonstrated July <BR>21st to members of the Chapter Steering Committee
(CSC ), and all those <BR>who had previously indicated an interest in the
portal. Thanks once <BR>again to everyone who provided feedback
during and after that session. <BR><BR> We have now incorporated many
changes suggested, and would like to <BR>extend an invitation to the CSC,
the AMS Point of Contacts, and to <BR>members of the Chapter delegates
mailing list to review the Beta version <BR>of the portal. <BR><BR>This
Beta version of the portal will have many enhancements, several <BR>driven
directly by the feedback from the last session, including:
<BR><BR> 1) Better look and feel overall (including updated
terminology to more <BR>closely match ISOC processes)
<BR><BR> 2) Sign-up for Chapter membership more prominent
earlier in the <BR>sign-up workflow <BR><BR> 3) More member
types available in the system <BR><BR> 4) Ability for
zero-value memberships to automatically renew <BR><BR>In order to
accommodate the greatest number of participants globally, <BR>this time
around we will be hosting two separate sessions: <BR><BR>*^*September
9th: UTC 11:30 *and the second at UTC 20:00 *
<BR><BR>*With these two scheduled demos we are hoping that everyone will
have <BR>the opportunity to choose a suitable time.* <BR><BR>*About the
Chapter Portal* <BR><BR>ISOC is still in the process of implementing a new
Association <BR>Management System (AMS). The software package called
Aptify will be the <BR>central data holding and management platform for
all data on ISOC <BR>Chapters, their members, ISOC individual members,
organizational <BR>members, and events. <BR><BR>The ISOC Chapter Portal
will be the interface through which chapters <BR>will interact with the
new system. The portal to be demonstrated on <BR>September 9th is
still the "Phase II" Chapter portal - it is intended as <BR>a replacement
for the Q/GoMembers portal currently deployed, but it is <BR>NOT the
open-source platform portal that is the ultimate goal for the
<BR>long-term AMS project. (The Phase III open-source version will replace
<BR>the Phase II version in 2010.) Therefore, there may be limits to
what <BR>feedback & requirements gathered from this session can be
incorporated <BR>into this portal to be launched on October 15th.
<BR><BR>As before, please reply to this email if you are interested (and
which <BR>session is best for you), and I will send out a Webex invitation
to each <BR>participant. Webex is screen-sharing software that
supports most <BR>browsers & operating systems, including many
