hi All,

Following up on Narelle's point below, the Communications team are currently exploring use of social networking sites and web 2.0 with a view to improving ISOC's presence. They are aware that many Chapters use these sites to connect to their members and each other and would be very interested to have your feedback. Specifically they are interested in knowing:

* which services you use/monitor most frequently?

Narelle is right. It would be enough if we can restrict to facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. (You could consider Skype as well as part of this list)

Twitter is in a sense a "micro-blogging" tool, good for announcements . Facebook and LinkedIn are social networking sites, and the perceived difference between these sites is that facebook is for personal contacts and LinkedIn is for professional contacts. Both these social networks have features built in to alert the user by email of any form of communication received for the user, so easy to monitor.

* how would you like to use these services?

The question is not clear.

* experience gained and lessons learnt?

Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn help us to expand our networks, help us stay connected and improve interaction. Will help communication between chapters / chapter members to a remarkable extent.

Comments can be sent directly to Greg Wood at <wood@isoc.org> or to this list.

This would be very helpful feedback and would be much appreciated.

Best wishes
Anne
Why stick to just facebook: Linkedin, twitter... "other" these things come and go, but it would be a good way to promote online 'connectedness'.

There are quite a few in the linkedin group, though at times I wonder how valid they are. There is nothing to stop a nonmember joining. Indeed we probably need to promote ISOC and the chapters a little better through these forums.
Cheers
Why not include a field in the application that will allow people to
connect on Facebook or something similar?
