Dear Anne,

We can begin setting this up using Web 2.0 tools such as Google Calender or Twitter. I have just begun using Twitter and am wondering if Twitter can be used by Chapters to announce updates of the chapter programs and events. Along with Chapter twitters if the key chapter delegates maintain individual twitter updates and connect to Chapter Twitters and Chapter Delegates' twitters we are well connected..

( I do not have a particular preference for Twitter. There could be other suggestions on what tools to be used. )

Sivasubramanian M
ISOC India Chennai

On Thu, May 22, 2008 at 7:11 PM, Anne Lord <lord@isoc.org> wrote:

There has been consistent feedback from chapters that a mechanism to connect travelling potential speakers to local chapter events would be a 'good thing'. This need is reflected in the Chapter Development Plan at:

http://wiki.chapters.isoc.org/tiki-index.php?page=Chapter+Development+Plan&bl
or : http://tinyurl.com/4xvcre

under "Tools, Communications and Support"

If there is interest in a chapter led approach as you suggest below, to look at what would be useful and how this could be done in a "lightweight" fashion, I would be very interested to participate in or facilitate a group. At the very least - perhaps you and I could chat off list Alejandro (and anyone else interested would be very welcome to join).

Best wishes,
Hi,

I've also proposed that we create a system similar to the IEEE's visiting speakers program - only more lightweight.

How much are we chapters-people able to organize bottom-up? What is the most lightweight support we may need?

Could we use a Dopplr-like thing, Dopplr itself, etc.?
Hello Narell Clark,

It is a good trend, travelling ISOC chapter officers asking for details of
local meetings and event to attend. Perhaps we should think of a system
similar to that adopted by Rotary International to "rightrully" attend
sister chapter meetings...
Hi all
In the spirit of increasing chapter interconnectivity - I will be in
Singapore (where we don't have any chapter) and Thailand (where we do) next
week and would love to catch up with any other chapter representatives there
also.

Suggested topics include:
- sharing info on chapter events and various activity planning
- sharing info on chapter fund raising
- comparisons of broadband availability and regulation in the different
countries

Best wishes to all
