Dear Louis Houle,

It feels good to see this taking shape as a discussion.

You have made a forceful argument, valid on all respects and your
message has actually made the INET idea broader and more elaborate. Why
not?

On point 7, organizing the event in different geographic locations I
have these concerns: Already there are difficulties expressed by
delegates in attending too many events, which is pointed addressed by
your suggestion that the INET could combine several tasks so as to make
it a large and very important event. But doing it in differnet
geographic locations brings back the problem of too many events... So,
this point requires some attention. ( May be we can organize one or two
INETs centrally and in the later years evaluate if there is a need for
INETs in different geographic locations ? )
Marcin,

I'm with you on this. I still have in mind the 1996 Montréal INET which
many consider as a major step for to establish ISOC's ?credibiilty?.
And I think that it would be a clever move to reshape the INET with a
broad multipurpose coverage (and exposure):

1- A major event that would ease participation for all those who can't
travel as much as needed to ?cover? meetings of specific interest.
2- An event that would gather IETF, ICANN, NGSO (you can add or delete
the one you like) and would cover broadly all topics of ISOC concern.
3- An event that would allow specific meetings (workshops..) that the
attendees (chapter delegates for instance) could assist to in a short 3
or 4 days period (OK maybe 5 days)
4- An event that could be broascasted worldwide...on the Net of course
5- An event where ISOC could manage to publish abstracts in a few languages
6- An event that should be made available considering affordable traveling expenses
7- An event that could be held in different geographic regions of the globe (NA-Asia,Europe, South America-Africa-and so forth)
8- An event that should bring to some consensus on ONE important topic
that we would like to focus on (it could be in line with the Sphere
project 7 subjects)
Dear Khaled KOUBAA,

The chapters meeting in Dubai is a good initiative. It would bring us all
together for a constructive discussion.

If there is something that you would like me to do by way of assistance in
the areas of drawing up the agenda, or meeting plan, please ask.

Couldn't we bring just INET conference back?

>From my perspective, it is easier to send a larger group of people for
the one even every year than keep chasing various events around the
world I am not always interested in.

Few people from us were present in Stockholm and Barcelona, we volunteered to work on the conference (I did this on INET2001).

What about this?
