Annual Report of Internet Society Indonesian Chapter
(ISOCID)

Published at : April 26, 2005

Note:
Due to the fact that this is the first report ever published by ISOCID, the period covered is December 2002 to April 01, 2005.

This is the official record of the financial position and summary of activities conducted by ISOCID as a chapter chartered by Internet Society
.
Any other financial transactions or activities prior to or within the period covered by this report, which is not published as part of this report,
is to be considered as not conducted by ISOCID and ISOCID shall take neither credit nor responsibility for such actions.

On April 10,2005 an announcement regarding the collection of data for annual report was made, asking all
officers and former officers to submit data in relation to activities performed using ISOCID name. The time
frame required is from the time ISOCID received its charter from ISOC, which was December 2002, to April 01,2005,
and the deadline for data submission is April 25, 2005.

After the deadline has passed, only Education Officer and Public Relation Officer submit their data.

Background condition (prior to April 01, 2004)

Little is known regarding what happened from the time ISOCID received its charter from the Internet Society, up to January 21, 2004.

On January 21, 2004, ISOCID members received notification from Nelson Sanchez that
ISOCID officers cannot be contacted, and thus if we are unable to identify ISOCID leadership by
January 31, 2004, our status will be downgraded from Active to In-Formation. As the effect of this
announcement, several members promptly started online discussion and made attempts to contact
Mr Teddy A.P., the current Chairman. 5 Days after that, member Budi Rahardjo managed to get hold of
Mr Teddy by phone, and notify him of the situation.

After several meetings, serious discussions and debates, it was uncovered that ISOCID has
virtually lost all of its active officers. Even the only remaining officer, Mr Teddy as Chairman, was
unable to be involved actively in ISOCID activities, due to personal reasons. Under that condition,
member Irwan Effendi volunteer to assist in reorganizing and revitalizing ISOCID, and it was agreed that
he is to be "acting secretary of the board", until ISOCID has enough active members, and Chairman
has the time to hold the first General Meeting of Members, in which the first General Election, as
dictated in ISOC's policy and ISOCID's bylaws will commence.

Therefore, starting from April 01, 2004, Irwan Effendi is officially in charge with ISOCID's administrations
and other issue.

General Overview

FINANCIAL

During the period covered in this report, ISOCID has managed to walk out from its dull state and develop
partnership with several universities and companies. Under management of Secretary, ISOCID has also managed
to start a regular educational program which has brought a total income of Rp. 2.215.000,- (app. USD 233),
which, if compared to the Rp.0,- starting capital, is a very good achievement, considering that ISOCID
membership is free and ISOCID has not received any financial donations so far. Also, the biggest part of this
income come from the down payment of students enrolled in ISOCID's certification program, which means that
within next year period, ISOCID can expect to receive the rest of the payment at total of Rp. 10.725.000,-
(app. USD 1129). Total ISOCID expenditure is Rp. 1.946.750,- (app.USD 205) , which mostly (Rp. 1.394.250,-) spent on payment of royalties for Author
and Liaison officer, for their services in creating the educational material and obtaining business for ISOCID.

STRUCTURE

Also, during this period, ISOCID has elected other officers, namely Devi Dimitra as Education Officer and
Linga Hanawati as Public Relation Officer. Their names cannot be presently registered as ISOCID's Board Officers
due to the fact that current ISOCID's bylaws does not include those positions. However, we are looking to
amend the bylaws within the next year's period. The Treasurer position is still vacant and therefore currently
any financial transaction in relation to activities performed by Secretary, Education Officer and Public Relation
Officer is recorded by Secretary, while any financial transaction in relation to activities performed by Chairman
becomes responsibility of Chairman.

ACTIVITIES IN RELATION TO THE FOUR PILLARS

STANDARDS

ISOCID, in cooperation with MaInSysCon, a small consulting company in which Secretary work as senior consultant,
has begun to socialize the process of Standard development in relation to RFC, from Draft to Standard. This is the
first of four steps planned to bring Indonesian Internet Engineer to be directly involved in IETF. The second step,
which is conducting experiments based on Draft Standard, will start in the next period.

EDUCATION

As the current primary focus in its activity, ISOCID spend the most time and effort to establish and run its
professional certification program. This program consists of three professional certifications and has been
accepted in 3 Private Universities. The materials are provided in Bahasa Indonesia, as to avoid learning
difficulties due to the language barrier.

Certifications offered are as follow:

ISOCID Internet Engineer Professional

ISOCID Web Developer Professional

ISOCID E-Commerce Manager Professional

39 students enrolled in the first E-Commerce certification class. 20 University Instructors are being trained
to obtain Web Developer certification, and 4 Instructors are being trained for Internet Engineer certification.

PUBLIC POLICY

In the area of public policy, ISOCID works toward increasing awareness and respect towards copyright, both
from user side and author's side. ISOCID also attempts to increase national awareness on issues of equality.
In cooperation with 2 Universities (UKRIDA and UPN "Veteran" Jakarta), ISOCID organized a nation wide web
developer competition, aiming to promote accessibility in web development in Indonesia. This event is however,
currently at halt due to lack of funding.

MEMBERSHIP

During this period, ISOCID has managed to recruit 92 new members, and has completed a draft on the system to
classify members based on the verification status of their identity. This draft is scheduled to be included as
part of amendment to the current bylaws. Membership has remain free of charge and
at present, ISOCID has no
intention on applying any fee on its membership.

Future outlook:

The certification program is definitely going well, and we plan to start offering it in other cities
starting
in early 2006. We estimates that within the next year period, over 200 people will apply for our certification,
bringing an estimated total income of roughly Rp. 70.000.000,- (app. USD 7370).

Planned activities:

Amendment of ISOCID's bylaws

The current bylaws has so many weaknesses especially in the part concerning General Meeting of Members, where
members are required to present physically to vote. This is definitely not suitable for ISOCID because members
from other cities will be obstructed from exercising their right. Therefore, amendment of bylaws is necessarry

Election of Treasurer and Vice Chairman

The vacant position of Treasurer and Vice Chairman need to be filled since ISOCID has already earned some money.

Election of Secretary

Current secretary was not elected, but volunteered to act as secretary, therefore an election must took place
in order to officially elect a secretary

Election of Chairman

Current chairman was not elected, but hold the position as founder of ISOCID. An election must took place
for this position also, as required by the Internet Society.
