Franck,
you have misunderstood Margaret's message.

They do allow me to run... or rather they can not stop me from running,
as the bylaws allow the petition process.
What they tell us all is that I am not good enough to be acknowledged by
the NomCom. This does not come as a surprise to me. After all, because I
have been always loyal to the Board and the ISOC, you have never realized
what pressure was put on me, and my colleagues, for my and theirs
attempts to bring on the table the issues that are of concern for
chapters.

You wouldn't know that Patrick was not allowed to present Wladek's slides
for which he was ready even to come to the US for the last Board meeting,
although the board knew that me, Patrick and Rosa have been asked by
chapters to do so.

You wouldn't know that I have gone through times, which I don't even want
to remember, just because I claimed, and continued to claim that ISOC is
spending more money on the standards and less on public policy.

You wouldn't know that at certain point I had to explain things which
would seem obvious for any chapter representative or member.

You wouldn't know what words we have had to hear about the chapters and
their role in ISOC.

And because you wouldn't know this, and because I am still a Board
Trustee, I am not revealing this.

But I can tell you that for my mail with the subject "Did I run for
the Board?" I was accused... for writing it! I was to have caused
harm to ISOC.

So... it's not ISOC that may be accused of un-democratic process. It's me
who is being accused - for what I write, for what I believe chapters
should be for ISOC, and for what I do.

This is ISOC today. If we believe we can change it, we have to start at
once - obviously it requires fast action. I hope we'll be able to do so.
It will be tough, but we need to try, right?

As for the new membership - would you define better what you
see?

veni

I think it is important to include in the process of the selection
committee that the current position holder are immediately selected. Let
the chapters decide if they have done a good job or not.

I see it that ISOC may be accused of intereference and un-democratic
process, where ISOC would remove vocal candidates.

With the new membership, I see strange things happening...
